JEE vs UPSC, which is tougher? Anand Mahindra sparks debate with X post

Anand Mahindra took to X to share a post from The World Ranking website which lists the 'Top Toughest Exams in the World', including both the IIT JEE at Rank 2 and the UPSC civil services exam at Rank 3.

He wrote that after watching the movie '12th Fail', he spoke to several people about the relative difficulty of our entrance exams.

Those responding to Anand Mahindra's post had different reactions to his comment.

One said: "Every exam in India is tough! 20 vacancy 200000 applications."

"Sir it is tough because a lot of people apply for it and it has very limited seats. Jee is easy because it has more seats. That's my opinion," wrote another.

Several made statements along the lines of how the UPSC appeared to be tougher because of the tougher competition rather than a higher level of questions.

"UPSC exam for civil services in India is considered one of the toughest exam in world," stated one. "As they chose and want best out of all those who appear for the exam to be selected. Earlier mainly graduates from arts, science & commerce stream used to appear for the same. But with the time students from technical backgrounds also started competing for the same and over the years competition has increased," he added.

Another commented: "The exam itself is not tough but it has 3 stages and every graduate can take it which makes the competition very tough. One small mistake and you are out of the race. But if difficulty level of question papers is compared, ofcourse, JEE is much more tougher."
